Gravitodynamics is based on an 1893 article of O. Heaviside or, respectively, on a simplication of A. Einstein’s General Relativity. It represends a set of equations for gravity and gravitymagnetism quite similar to the Maxwell-equations for electricity and magnetism. As the experiment with the satellite Gravity Probe B showed, the gravitomagnetism of Earth is detectable. Because of that, the question arose if experiments with gravitomagnetism are reasonable and possible on laboratory scale. This article gives a short introduction to gravitodynamics, explains possible opportunities for gettings measurable effects and gives an overview on preliminary experiments conducted by the Institut für Gravitationsforschung in 2008.
